Deakin University’s Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) is renowned for its research excellence in the field of materials science. Working across a range of disciplines they develop scalable solutions for the energy, health, environment, manufacturing, mining, and transport industries.

The IFM is currently on the lookout for the next intake of motivated, curious individuals keen to further their research careers in the field of materials science. Full-time research projects are available for PhD candidates across a range of areas including:

  • Advanced alloys
  • Infrastructure materials
  • Electromaterials
  • Carbon fibre and composites
  • Micro/nano materials
  • Fibres and textiles

Covering tuition fees and an annual stipend of up to $28,092, scholarships are available to outstanding candidates. Eligible applicants must be domestic or onshore international candidates (including candidates with Australian Citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency, or New Zealand Citizenship).
